Our Game Lodge and other excursions

The Port Elizabeth area has some of the best malaria free game reserves in South Africa , within 30 to 90 minutes driving distance. Cape Flame is proud to be able to offer Koffylaagte Game Lodge, our very own private game reserve, situated only 130km south-west of Port Elizabeth.   Offering an unforgettable bush experience, coupled with true Karoo hospitality and authentic Karoo cuisine, Koffylaagte is the perfect escape from the city hustle and bustle.   With a variety of activities on offer, from archery, guided game drives, horse and quad bike trails or for those wishing to relax, a session in our thermal infrared sauna, Koffylaagte offers something for everyone. The Eastern Cape in general and primarily the Port Elizabeth area, offers a varied selection of recreational activities and pursuits that cater for all tastes.  These include, but are not limited to the activities we have listed below. Historical city and beach tours

Discover the magnificent Port Elizabeth with its unique architecture and history as well as its marvellous beaches. A great way to start your holiday. 

Boardwalk Entertainment Centre

The Boardwalk houses a number of cafés, restaurants, bars as well as a cinema complex and a casino and is within 10 minutes walking distance of our guest house.

Excursions

Visit St. Francis Bay with its distinct canal houses, Jeffreys Bay which offers world-class surfing conditions, Plettenberg Bay for craft shopping and its beaches, Knysna is for its fish restaurants, shopping, lagoon cruises and Thesen Island.  Please ask the duty manager about day excursions, costs and booking.

Golf games and tours

The Garden Route and Port Elizabeth offer some of the best and most scenic golf courses in South Africa .   Please speak to the duty manager to arrange a tee-off time, at our preferential rates, at one of the well-known 18 hole signature courses in Port Elizabeth , for the day. 

Fishing

Port Elizabeth offers variety of opportunities for the keen anglers. The area offers deep sea, river, lake and surf fishing.  Please speak to the desk manager for contacts. 

Tsitsikamma adventure

Tsitsikamma Forest is home to a number of adventure sports including the highest bungee jump in Africa , tree top tours, abseiling, rafting, dolphin trails, hiking, biking, and more extreme activities.  A definite stop along the way is the primate  and reptile sanctuary en-route to the Tsitsikamma forest. Great fun and learning!

Sport Facilities

There are various sport facilities in Port Elizabeth . Other than the sea sports at Hobie Beach,  there is also a jogging and walking track along the beach front, starting from Shark Rock Pier and going all the way to  the Cape Receife Lighthouse. Bicycles or body surf boards can also be rented on a daily basis. Guests can also visit the gymnasiums within the area.  Please enquire at reception.

Port Elizabeth offers a number of beauty salons offering a multitude of beauty treatments by internationally qualified therapists.   Speak to the duty manager to arrange for a session at our reduced rates.
